Positioned at the crossroads between several existing vehicle categories, the new Peugeot 3008 combines diverse elements usually associated with the sport utility vehicle (SUV), multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and family hatchback sectors.
In doing so, it rewrites the crossover rulebook, offering an unexpected synthesis of capacity and compactness. The 4 365 mm overall length accommodates a generous 2 613 mm wheelbase, in the interests of capacious interior space and commensurate comfort.
The large 1,7 m2 panoramic front windscreen contributes to the airy ambience, while top-of-the-range Executive models benefit from an even stronger sense of light and space with the addition of a large 1,6 m2 ‘Cielo’ panoramic roof.
Talking of air, the Peugeot 3008 is equipped with a highly efficient climate control system. Front and rear vents, as well as heating ducts for the feet of the front and rear occupants, ensure superior ventilation and temperature control throughout.
In accordance with its lifestyle-oriented execution, the 3008 offers an abundance of useful storage spaces. Together, these represent a total effective volume of nearly 50 litres.
The luggage compartment is easily accessible via the two-part tailgate. The load space is easily compartmentalised, thanks to a cargo divider offering three-way height adjustment.
At base level, the full 512 litre capacity becomes available, but the space can be split 25/75 percent below or above the divider respectively, or set at a more even 45/55 percent ratio.
The new Peugeot 3008 is offered with a choice of three engines, starting off with the
1.6 VTi four-cylinder petrol unit. It employs variable valve lift and timing to develop 88 kW of maximum power at 6 000 r/min and a torque peak of 160 Nm at 4 250 r/min.
The 1.6 THP (Turbo High Pressure) offers superb flexibility with its maximum torque of 240 Nm available from just 1 400 r/min, along with 115 kW of peak power at 6 000 r/min.
The new 2.0 HDi develops a power maximum of 110 kW at 3 750 r/min, allied to a generous 340 Nm of torque at 2 000 r/min. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on the 2.0 HDi and 1.6 THP, with a five-speed version for the 1.6 VTi.
The Peugeot 3008 boasts a staggering array of original technology, with the focus on improved driving safety, control and convenience, including an all-new Dynamic Roll Control system for optimum handling.
The innovative five-mode Grip Control is a particularly innovative highlight, while other category firsts include a Head-Up Display, Distance Alert and Hill Start Assist on selected models.
USB/Bluetooth connectivity is a further high-tech addition to the comprehensive specification list.
