The Durban ICC is constructed on the site of the old Durban Central Prison, and today the Centre stands as a symbolic reminder of the transformation the country has undergone. We celebrate the fact that this site, which was once a place of darkness and incarceration has been transformed into a place of enlightenment and a venue for global dialogue. The ‘Durban Human Rights Wall’ commemorates this transformation in a powerful way for all citizens of Durban and all international delegates who visit our shores.
