Pollock Beach or the “Pipe” as it is known locally, is favored by surfers because of its excellent waves and surfing opportunities. The beach is reached by traveling along Marine Drive, Summerstrand, and turning left immediately on passing 10th Avenue. There is plenty of lawn area which is pleasant for rigging, a parking area and a shower house with an ablution block for surfers.
Address: Pollok Beach, 8th Avenue, Summerstrand, Gqeberha
Just under 6 km away from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality City hall is Pollock beach. Most people who visit this beach come and go by car, as there is a huge parking lot. The beach itself is pretty much like Hobie and Humewood though the sandy parts are a bit smaller and rocky ridges are closer to the shore. Near the car park are some fast food restaurants and a playground for children.
The Summerstrand boardwalk starts not far away (between the Raddison and Beacon). Good for a fantastic walk through the dunes southeastwards. You could continue your walk all the way to SANCCOB penguin rehab (4 km away from Pollock beach) or even Cape Recife.
