Home of the Detroit Pistons & Detroit Red Wings

Little Caesars Arena is home to the Detroit Pistons of the NBA and the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL.

Located at 2645 Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit, the arena replaced both Joe Louis Arena and The Palace of Auburn Hills when it opened in 2017. The venue features a creative “deconstructed” design with the box office, retail shops and a number of restaurants built outside the arena, but connected to the overall campus under a giant glass roof.

Below, here’s everything you need to know about Little Caesars Arena. Get a look at the stadium’s history, parking and admission, and capacity and seating options, and learn all about the food and beverage options inside the arena.

The Red Wings played their first game at the arena on September 23, 2017, in a preseason faceoff with the Boston Bruins. Weeks later, the Pistons also made their debut at the arena with their first preseason game on October 4, 2017 against the Charlotte Hornets.

Other events that have taken place at Little Caesars Arena include the 2017-2018 edition of the Great Lakes Invitational NCAA ice hockey tournament, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, UFC 218, multiple WWE events, the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the 2019 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Finals, and the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

On March 16, 2025, the arena hosted a record-setting Professional Women’s Hockey League game between the Minnesota Frost and the New York Sirens. With an attendance of 14,288, the game marked the largest crowd to ever watch a professional women’s hockey match in U.S. history.
