Update (August 6): This article has been updated with the latest info about the 2026 NFL season.

The 2025 NFL regular season ended with Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California and it was a dominant performance from one team. The Seattle Seahawks, looking to capture their second championship in franchise history, took on the New England Patriots, and it was Seattle’s game from the kickoff as they scored early and often, ultimately winning, 29-13.

As the 2026 NFL season quickly approaches, read all about the past decade of Super Bowls below.

Super Bowl LX β€” Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots both exceeded preseason expectations to meet in Super Bowl LX — which was a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX from 2015. The outcome was different this time, however, as Seattle was dominant throughout and easily came away with the a 29-13 win, good for the franchise’s second ever Super Bowl victory.

The Seahawks, on the back of their vicious defense and led on offense by quarterback Sam Darnold, never gave the Patriots a real chance to make it a close game. Seattle entered halftime with a 9-0 lead and didn’t even give up a point until the fourth quarter. Seattle scored 17 points of their own in the final frame to seal the win. Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III won MVP honors, averaging five yards per carry and finishing with 135 yards on 27 attempts.

Super Bowl LIX β€” Philadelphia Eagles

Kansas City was back yet again in Super Bowl LIX, going for their NFL record third straight title. The only team standing in their way was the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, took down Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Chiefs in a game that was never really close. Philly jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and stretched that to a 24-0 edge heading into halftime. It was all Philly out of halftime too, as they extended the lead to 34-0 on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Hurts to DeVonta Smith. The Chiefs offense got going later in the second half, scoring three touchdowns, but it was not enough as Philly hung on for a resounding 40-22 win. Hurts went 17-of-22 for 293 total yards and three total TDs to win Super Bowl MVP.

Super Bowl LVIII β€” Kansas City Chiefs

Super Bowl LVIII was held on February 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium, and it solidified the Kansas City Chiefs’ place in the record books. After the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers both went scoreless in the first quarter of the game, it became a back and fourth contest. Entering the fourth quarter, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were winning, 13-10, courtesy of a go-ahead, 16-yard Marquez Valdes-Scantling receiving score.

In the fourth quarter, the teams continued to play tight. Following Jake Moody’s 53-yard field goal that put San Francisco ahead 19-16 with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce stepped up. Kelce’s 22-yard reception led to a Harrison Butker game-tying, 29-yard field goal. With the score at 19-19 and no time left on the clock in the forth quarter, the game went to overtime for only the second time in Super Bowl history.

San Francisco received the ball first in the extra frame, but were not able to score a touchdown despite quarterback Brock Purdy’s best efforts. The Niners settled for a field goal and gave the ball back to Mahomes and Kansas City. They did not squander the chance to end the game. Mahomes connected with Mecole Hardman with three seconds left in overtime for a 3-yard touchdown pass to win the game, 25-22. The win was a historic one for the Chiefs: They became just the ninth repeat Super Bowl champions in NFL history and the first franchise to do so in 19 years. Mahomes earned MVP honors.

Usher, along with multiple special guests, performed during the halftime show.

Super Bowl LVII β€” Kansas City Chiefs

Super Bowl LVII was held on February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Arizona. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles to win 38–35, led by a stellar performance from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

This marked the second Super Bowl win for the Chiefs in just four seasons. Late in the first half of the game, Mahomes was tackled to the ground by linebacker T.J. Edwards, causing Mahomes to reaggravate an ankle sprain he had suffered three weeks earlier. As Mahomes limped his way to the bench, the Eagles took over the lead 24–14. But what happened in the second half will have NFL fans talking about Super Bowl LVII for years. Though clearly impeded by his ankle strain, Mahomes still managed to lead the Chiefs to scores on all four of their second-half drives, which included three touchdowns and the game-winning field goal with only eight seconds left in the game.

The superstar performance from Mahomes, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, earned him his second Super Bowl win and second Super Bowl MVP award. But the Chiefs’ win was clearly a team effort. Kadarius Toney had a fourth-quarter touchdown catch followed by a 65-yard punt return that sent Skyy Moore into the end zone for the first time, giving Kansas City a 35–27 lead with less than 10 minutes to play. The 65-yard punt return also marked the longest in Super Bowl history. Isiah Pacheco also rushed for 76 key yards on 15 carries. On defense, Nick Bolton led the Chiefs with nine tackles and returned a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown.

Though his team didn’t ultimately take home the championship trophy, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had performance as good as any of the other past Super Bowl winners. He threw for 304 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns, and added a two-point conversion run.

For Chiefs Coach Andy Reid, this was his second Super Bowl win and 22nd playoff victory, making him second only to Bill Belichick in postseason victories.

The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show was headlined by nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna. The performance marked a return to the stage for Rihanna, who hadn’t performed publicly since the Grammy Awards in 2018. It also marked Rihanna’s first time performing on the Super Bowl stage and, as the artist revealed she was pregnant with her second child, she became the first Super Bowl headliner to perform while pregnant.

Super Bowl LVI β€” Los Angeles Rams

There were tons of notable firsts at Super Bowl LVI. Held on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, Super Bowl LVI marked the first time since 1993 that the Big Game was hosted in Los Angeles. It also marked the first Super Bowl title for the Rams β€” who beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 β€” since their move to Los Angeles. Additionally, in his second Super Bowl appearance of his career, Rams Head Coach Sean McVay made history as the youngest head coach to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy at 36. The game also marked the second time in Super Bowl history that a team played a championship game at their home stadium.

With 6:20 left on the clock, the Rams were trailing 20-16 at Super Bowl LVI, but with under two minutes remaining, they reached the Bengals 8-yard line. Quarterback Matthew Stafford’s go-ahead touchdown pass to wide receiver Cooper Kupp, followed by defensive lineman Aaron Donald’s fourth-down sack on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, secured a 23-20 victory for the Rams with 1:25 left in the game. Following the Rams’ comeback win over the Bengals, Cooper Kupp was named Super Bowl LVI Most Valuable Player after catching eight out of 10 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown pass. Kupp is only the eighth wide receiver to be named a Super Bowl MVP.

Adding to the list of firsts for Super Bowl LVI, the halftime performance marked the first time that rap took center stage at the Super Bowl. The halftime show, which included a surprise cameo by 50 Cent, featured performances by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige β€” also marking the first time that these five iconic artists have shared the same stage.

Super Bowl LV β€” Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Super Bowl LV was held on Feb. 7, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida β€” home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers β€” where the home team beat out 2020 champions the Kansas City Chiefs 31–9, winning the Buccaneers their second Vince Lombardi Trophy in as many championship game appearances. Additionally, Tampa Bay coach Bruce Arians became the oldest head coach to win a Super Bowl at 68. The game marked the first time in Super Bowl history that a team played a championship game at their home stadium. It also marked the seventh Super Bowl victory for Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, giving him the most Super Bowl wins, and his first championship victory away from the New England Patriots.

In his first season with the Buccaneers, Brady threw three touchdown passes in the first half β€” the last coming with just six seconds left until halftime, giving the Bucs a 21–6 lead. Two of Brady’s touchdown passes were to his former Patriots teammate, Tampa Bay tight end Rob Gronkowski, now a three-time Super Bowl champion. Brady was also named MVP of the game, marking his record fifth award. For Kansas City, quarterback Patrick Mahomes β€” who led the team to their first victory in five decades in 2021β€” lost by double digits for the first time in his career. Due to COVD-19 safety protocols, only 25,000 fans were in attendance, making it the least-attended Super Bowl in history.

Super Bowl LIV β€” Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31–20 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on February 2, 2020. The Chiefs, who had overcome a 10-point deficit against Tennessee in the AFC Championship Game and a 24-0 hole against the Texans in the divisional round, once again came back to win, after being down 20-10 with less than seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The game had some incredible highlights. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes overcame two interceptions to throw for two touchdowns and run for one, winning MVP honors. Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan became the first son of a Super Bowl-winning coach to also coach a Super Bowl, while the Chiefs’ Andy Reid finally won his first title as head coach after appearing in seven conference championships and leading the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl XXXIX. This was the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory in 50 years, and the first after the AFL–NFL merger.

Super Bowl LIII β€” New England Patriots

In a defensive-minded Super Bowl LIII, the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13–3 on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. It was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in history. The Patriots and the Rams held the contest to a 3–3 tie entering the fourth quarter. New England then scored 10 unanswered for the victory. Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who caught 10 passes for 141 yards, was named Super Bowl MVP.

Super Bowl LIII was the first one played at the stadium and the third held in Atlanta. The Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl championship, tying the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most overall. It was the fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years for the Patriots and ninth under the leadership of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Fittingly, it was a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVI, which was the first Belichick-Brady Super Bowl championship. It was the first Super Bowl appearance for the Rams since moving back from St. Louis to Los Angeles in 2016.

Super Bowl LII β€” Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles, led by backup quarterback Nick Foles, took down Tom Brady and the defending champion New England Patriots in an instant classic that broke multiple Super Bowl records. This game, played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, featured the most combined yards in Super Bowl history (1,151), the fewest combined punts in Super Bowl history (one), and the most points scored by the losing team in Super Bowl history (33).

Foles, who took over quarterback duties earlier in the season when starter Carson Wentz went down with an injury, was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown on a trick play that became the signature moment of the game β€” and which later earned the nickname β€œThe Philly Special.” The game stayed close all night, but the Patriots didn’t take their first lead until there were less than 10 minutes left in the game. The Eagles responded by scoring the final nine points, clinching a 41–33 victory and their first Super Bowl win in team history.

The New England Patriots began the year strong, beating the Atlanta Falcons 34–28. Super Bowl LI was held at NRG Stadium in Houston on February 5, 2018. The Patriots got off to a rough start, lagging behind the Falcons by 25 points by the third quarter. In an exciting fourth quarter, the Patriots came out on top in overtime, ending the game 34–28. It was the first Super Bowl to conclude in overtime and gave the Patriots’ 25-point recovery the record for the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.
