PH Live at Planet Hollywood is a Las Vegas theater that’s one of a kind. Featuring state-of-the-art technology, focused sightlines of the stage and flexible seating configurations, the resident venue at Planet Hollywood for concerts in Las Vegas creates an entirely different experience than both a traditional theater and a massive arena.

Known throughout its long history as everything from The AXIS, Bakkt Theater and Zappos Theater, PH Live remains a go-to destination in Sin City for revelers and music lovers looking for things to do in Las Vegas.

Below, Ticketmaster’s guide to PH Live will explore the history of the theater from its days as part of the Aladdin Hotel to the present, explain the layout of the modern-day venue, and more.

From the Aladdin Theatre to PH Live: A Las Vegas Headliner Stage

The venue now known as PH Live began its life as the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts when it first opened its doors in 1976. As the resident entertainment venue of the famed Aladdin, the theater drew rock stars like Neil Diamond, Frank Zappa, KISS, Sting and Fleetwood Mac to Sin City for unforgettable shows over two decades. In 1997, the Aladdin Theatre was the site of one final, raucous show by Mötley Crüe, which resulted in signs being ripped off the walls by the wild crowd, before the hotel closed for renovations. (While drummer Tommy Lee invited female fans to flash the cameras during the show, things eventually got so out of control that the band’s guitarist, Mick Mars, was knocked unconscious.)

In 1998, the original Aladdin was demolished and the theater was incorporated into the casino area of the resort’s new blueprints. Once the new Aladdin was rebuilt, the renovated theater reopened in 2000 with a headlining show by Enrique Iglesias. However, the Aladdin Theatre faced major competition as rival venues, arenas and event centers proliferated along the Strip in the 2000s. Soon after reopening, the hotel declared bankruptcy and was sold in 2004.

Three years later, the resort had been transformed into Planet Hollywood, with the theater rechristened as the Planet Hollywood Theatre for the Performing Arts. Over the new hotel’s more than two decades on the Strip, the venue has gone through a number of names including The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (2013-2018), Zappos Theater (2018-2023) and Bakkt Theater (2023-2024). Since the summer of 2024, the theater has been known simply as PH Live.

Understanding the PH Live at Planet Hollywood Layout

PH Live at Planet Hollywood is organized in four — and sometimes five — general areas, depending on the event or show: lower bowl, club level seating, upper bowl, suites and event floor seating.

PH Live at Planet Hollywood Seating & Layout Explained

Floor seating offers a premium, up-close and personal experience while lower bowl seating can give fans a bit of breathing room from the stage while still offering stellar views from the floor. Club-level seating and suites provide a more private experience with great sightlines of the stage, and fans sitting in the upper bowl have the opportunity to view everything happening on stage from an elevated view.

Always be sure to consider preferred central or side perspectives when choosing the best tickets for your night out. Every seat inside PH Live is oriented with the stage in mind; however, the location of production equipment, stage extensions, standing areas and tables can vary by event.

How PH Live Changes for Residencies, Touring Concerts & Comedy

Like many venues around the country, PH Live at Planet Hollywood can offer meaningfully different experiences for the audience depending on the production.

As the home of high-profile residencies on the Strip, the theater can change set-ups and configurations per the specification and creative vision of each artist who calls the stage of PH Live home. Changes may include stage depth and width, runways, thrust stages and B stages, standing areas, quantity of floor seats available, and more.

Likewise, tables and seating can often be added for comedy shows in Las Vegas or other spoken word events, while production of touring concerts also often facilitates tweaks to PH Live’s setting like closed side sections, and camera, sound or lighting positions.

Exact layouts, sightlines and available sections will vary by event. Fans can review changes in the seating and layout of PH Live at Planet Hollywood by event courtesy of Ticketmaster’s PH Live seating chart.

Here are a few examples of PH Live at Planet Hollywood seating diagrams that have different setups depending on the type of show. The first seat map is for a comedy show, and the second is for a concert:

Where to Sit at PH Live for the Experience You Want

The best seats in the house vary by ticketholder — so get the tickets you want for the type of experience you want.

Sitting closest to the stage — often in floor or some lower bowl seating — immerses fans in the show as they take in vivid details of their favorite artist’s performance. However, fans seated in a closer location may also have to contend with lower sightlines of the stage, standing guests and the possibility that large-scale visuals are harder to fully take in close-up.

Fans who prioritize a central view of the full production often want to take in multiple elements like staging, choreography, video and lighting as a complete composition. This can most often be accomplished by choosing seating in the lower bowl, slightly elevated from the floor seating.

An elevated seat in the upper bowl may offer a cleaner, fuller view of the entire stage from above, but increases the fan’s distance to the action.

Depending on the stage design, side-stage energy may give fans the best of both worlds with a feel that’s close and dynamic to what’s happening on stage. However, these seats can also create angled views and often limit visibility of some production elements depending on the show.

Oftentimes, choosing seats in the rear floor area mixes the pumped-up energy of the crowd with the complete scale of the stage, depending on elevation, standing behavior of other guests and various production elements.

Video, Sound & Premium Experiences at PH Live

PH Live at Planet Hollywood utilizes an over 100,000-watt D&B sound system to provide immersive, crystal clear acoustics for up to 7,000 fans at every show. Additionally, the theater’s massive video projection surface covers more than 200 degrees for eye-popping wrap-around visuals to entrance attendees from every seat in the house, rewarding both proximity to the stage and wider, elevated views.

The theater also offers plenty of premium experiences for VIP ticketholders, including semi-private areas, VIP tables and seating with extra legroom. (Particular VIP experiences vary by event.) To purchase a VIP package, visit your event page and look for the gold star on the seat map or above the list of ticket options.
