Johannesburg, South Africa: South African producer and electronic music innovator Thabo Tonick releases his debut album, Sun God, today via Stay True Sounds, marking a defining moment in a career built on challenging convention and pushing the boundaries of house music. With over 2 million career streams to his name, Thabo steps into his most ambitious creative chapter yet, delivering a project that moves confidently between 3-Step, deep house, experimental electronic textures and everything in between.<\/p>\n

Thabo Tonick has never been particularly interested in following the rules. Throughout his career, the producer has developed a reputation for his adventurous approach to rhythm, unconventional arrangements and an instinct for finding new possibilities within familiar sounds. On Sun God, that curiosity takes centre stage as he abandons genre restrictions in favour of pure creative expression.<\/p>\n

The album arrives following a series of releases that have steadily introduced listeners to the different dimensions of his evolving sound. July\u2019s \u201cBigger Than Us\u201d established the project\u2019s raw, bass-heavy foundations, while August\u2019s \u201cListen To The Kids\u201d offered a more patient, exploratory approach, unfolding through shifting rhythms and layered instrumentation. Both singles helped build anticipation for the album, with \u201cBigger Than Us\u201d also earning placement in curated house music playlists on Spotify.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Thabo joined forces with fellow South African producer Hypaphonik on \u201cBassTrap,\u201d a futuristic 3-Step offering driven by hypnotic percussion, powerful low-end frequencies and an unmistakable dancefloor energy. Released on 2 October, the collaboration provided a final glimpse into the album\u2019s sonic direction, reinforcing Thabo\u2019s position among the producers exploring new possibilities within South Africa\u2019s electronic music landscape.<\/p>\n

The album\u2019s focus track, \u201cFloating\u201d featuring KayDeep, introduces a warmer, more melodic dimension to Thabo\u2019s production. Offering a contrast to the darker, bass-driven intensity of the preceding singles, the collaboration captures the versatility that defines the project. Its sweeter textures and fluid musicality reveal an artist equally comfortable exploring moments of restraint as he is pushing sound to its limits.<\/p>\n

While the album moves between contrasting moods, tempos and influences, Sun God never loses its sense of identity.
