It comes ahead of their support slot for Foo Fighters sold-out Principality Stadium show tonight, on the eve of the stadium’s 25th anniversary.

The Cardiff rock band performed a snippet of their single ‘Thank God I’m Not You’ on SCALE, the stadium’s new aerial attraction situated on top of the home of Welsh Rugby. The track has already amassed over 45 million streams and is now officially the first song to be performed on top of the Principality Stadium. A fitting accolade for a local Welsh band.

HIMALAYAS had this to say about the experience: “We had the pleasure (not for Louis) of climbing and then playing on top of Principality stadium. It was definitely not something we ever thought that we’d do and was a great way to take in the stadium before we support Foo Fighters.”

SCALE is Principality Stadium’s new breathtaking aerial adventure in which the public can climb the iconic roof offering incredible views of Cardiff and the Stadium bowl below, before zip wiring across the roof and abseiling back down to the ground below.

It also marks an exciting week for the band in which they also released their new single, ‘Hung Up’. Frontman Joe Williams explains of the writing process, “With this song I wanted to create a sense of chaos and a feeling of being smacked in the face by something you didn’t expect. Hung Up was heavily influenced by my teenage years and the music I listened to.”

Of course, all eyes will be on their performance tonight as they open to a hometown Principality Stadium crowd ahead of Wet Leg and the Foo Fighters. They’ll be roared on by a crowd eager to support local talent and they will be taking to that stage with fresh haircuts from renowned local barber Miles O’Keefe. The Managing Director and partial owner of SWYD Tattoo and Barbershop has a list of high-profile clients that have included New Zealand All Blacks and Blink 182’s Travis Barker.

\\He accompanied the band on SCALE alongside SWYD owner, local businessman, Matt Pritchard who shot to fame through his role as co-creator of MTV’s Dirty Sanchez. With HIMALAYAS, O’Keefe and Pritchard all from Wales, the SCALE event felt like a true celebration of outstanding local Welsh talent and culture.

Welsh rock band HIMALAYAS made history as they became the first band to perform on the roof of the iconic Principality Stadium.
