22 October 2024 by Guest

WESTERN CAPE – On Monday, 21 October 2024, members of Grassy Park police were busy with crime prevention duties in Dove Road, Parkwood when they heard a single gunshot going off near the vicinity where they were patrolling. The members saw three males running and chased after them. They apprehended one male and found him in possession of a firearm with four rounds of ammunition.

The 17-year-old male was arrested for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.

In an unrelated matter members of the Lwandle Crime Prevention Unit arrested an adult male on Monday afternoon, when he was found in possession of a firearm with one round of ammunition. The members followed up information about a person that is in possession of a firearm in Broadway Square and found the male fitting the description, searched him and confiscated the firearm. He faces charges for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and is due to make a court appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
