Following a groundbreaking 2026 edition that marked a triumphant return to form, the Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD has taken a major step towards its former glory. The TWO OCEANS MARATHON NPC, together with Stillwater Sports, the event’s staging and commercial partner, are proud to announce that the iconic Totalsports TWO OCEANS ULTRA MARATHON has been awarded the prestigious IAU Golden Label Certificate by the International Association of Ultrarunners.

This elite accolade recognises the event’s world-class standards in organisation, safety, and competition, firmly positioning the iconic race among the finest ultramarathons in the world and reinforcing its reputation as a premier destination for both elite and amateur runners.

“This recognition from the International Association of Ultrarunners is a powerful endorsement of the ULTRA MARATHON as a world-class event,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the TWO OCEANS MARATHON NPC. “Earning the IAU Golden Label Certificate confirms that we meet the highest international standards across every aspect of the race – from organisation and athlete experience to elite competition, prize money and regulatory compliance.”

Echoing this sentiment, Wade Bromfield, Event Director of the Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD, emphasised the significance of the achievement for the team behind the event:

“This achievement is incredibly special for our team,” says Bromfield. “After months of hard work behind the scenes, receiving the IAU Golden Label Certificate is a deeply rewarding moment for everyone involved. It’s a testament to the passion, commitment, and attention to detail that has gone into delivering this iconic event.”

Part of what the food industry does with Public Relations, just like the chemical industry or the oil industry, is to try to erase their fingerprints from their messaging. So when consumers hear about a recent effort like the \”food dialogues\” put on by a group called the US Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, do they know necessarily that these \”dialogues\” are being funded by companies like Monsanto, a large chemical company and the controller of most of the patents on genetically modified seeds? No, they don\’t. – Anna Lappe
