CAPE TOWN – Crime Prevention initiatives in Lower Cross Roads, Philippi East on Friday, 27 September 2024, yielded success when a 38-year-old male was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Members of Operation Restore were busy with crime prevention operations in the Philippi East area when they stopped and searched a man who acted suspicious when he saw police vehicles. During the search the members found a firearm with 15 rounds of ammunition in his possession.
In an unrelated matter members of Operation Restore arrested a 19-year-old male when he was caught with a hijacked vehicle and an imitation firearm. The members responded to a complaint of a hijacking and spotted the vehicle in Hammer Street, Nyanga. It was established that the vehicle was hijacked in Delft.
Both suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 30 September 2024.
