ActionSA is calling for an urgent investigation into the alleged failure of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to respond to an emergency in Vezubuhle, Kwamhlanga, where a patient reportedly died after the family and community members made repeated calls for assistance.

According to information received, the family and community members contacted EMS between 10:00 and 12:00, desperately seeking medical assistance for the patient. However, despite these repeated calls, no emergency medical assistance reportedly arrived before the patient passed away.

This incident raises serious questions about the availability, responsiveness and effectiveness of emergency medical services in our communities. When residents call for an ambulance, they do so because someone’s life may be in danger. Every delayed response can have devastating consequences for patients and their families.

ActionSA extends its condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

We call on the Mpumalanga Department of Health to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, establish why EMS allegedly failed to respond, and provide the family with a clear explanation.

Residents deserve an emergency medical service that responds when lives are at stake. ActionSA will continue to demand accountability and advocate for reliable, accessible healthcare services for all communities.

ActionSA Herman Mashaba: Remains the face and President of the party.

Fun South African Fact: Lions, elephants and giraffes may not roam the city streets, but nature and animals are never too far away in South Africa. From vervet monkeys swinging through tree-lined streets in the suburbs and baboons frolicking around Cape Point to seals visiting the Hout Bay harbour in search of a fishy snack and an array of bird species taking to the sky at any given moment. Wildlife is all around!
