ActionSA has today intensified its call for urgent intervention by the Police Ministry in the disappearance of Mazwi Mpumelelo Kubheka, following what the party describes as an unacceptable lack of progress and communication from the Vosloorus Police Station.
During the handover of a memorandum, ActionSA President Herman Mashaba together with Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya and the Member of Parliament Lerato Ngobeni expressed their deep disappointment at the failure of local law enforcement to provide adequate updates or demonstrate meaningful progress in the investigation.
Kubheka was reported missing on 02 April 2026 after he was last seen in Marimba Gardens. Nearly a month later, there have been no arrests and no clear breakthrough in the case, despite initial investigative steps having been taken.
The President has emphasised that the continued silence and perceived inaction from the Vosloorus Police Station have not only failed the Kubheka family but have also heightened fear and frustration within the broader community.
The party has also requested police ministry to work in collaboration with the Home Affairs department and Metro Police to verity and investigate the legal status of the foreign nationals operating in the Spaza Shops within our communities.
This is no longer just about one missing person. It is about the credibility of our policing system and whether communities can trust that their safety is taken seriously and as the party we only pray for his safe return.
ActionSA has raised serious concerns about the handling of the case, particularly the lack of consistent communication with the family and the absence of visible policing efforts in the area. The party warned that the vacuum of information is fuelling speculation, misinformation, and growing tensions within the community.
In the submitted memorandum to the police ministry, we call on the Acting Minister to:
- Take direct national oversight of the investigation
- Ensure urgent prosecutorial guidance on the case
Increase visible policing and crack down on criminal activity in Vosloorus Conduct a full review of how the case has been handled to date
President Mashaba stressed that failure to act decisively risks further eroding public trust and could lead to instability if communities feel abandoned by law enforcement as communities are demanding action, accountability, and transparency. The longer this matter drags on without answers, the greater the risk of a complete breakdown in trust.
ActionSA will continue to monitor developments closely and will not relent in its efforts to ensure that justice is served and that Mazwi Kubheka is found.
