ActionSA has written to the Executive Mayor of the City of Mbombela Local Municipality, Ms. Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko demanding urgent maintenance of the deteriorating gravel road in Gedlembane, Msogwaba.

The poor condition of the road is making it increasingly difficult for residents to travel in and out of the area, raising serious concerns about access to essential services. Of particular concern is the difficulty ambulances and other emergency vehicles may face when responding to medical emergencies.

Nurses, teachers and other essential-service workers are also affected by the road conditions, making it harder for them to reach their workplaces and serve the community.

In its letter, ActionSA has requested an urgent inspection and grading of the road, repairs to severely damaged and eroded sections, and priority attention to areas needed for emergency vehicle access. The party has also requested a clear maintenance plan and a written response from the mayor’s office within 14 days.

Residents of Gedlembane should not have to endure deteriorating road infrastructure that threatens accessibility and undermines the delivery of essential services. The municipality has a responsibility to maintain local roads and respond to legitimate community concerns.

ActionSA will continue to engage with residents and monitor the municipality’s response to ensure that this matter receives the urgent attention it deserves.
