Aiding Christian Aid Relief

18 August 2026 by Guest

JAC Motors South Africa reaffirms its commitment to supporting communities in need by donating two trucks, an X200 EV 1.9-tonne and an N140 9-tonne, to Christian Aid Relief (CARE). The vehicles will join CARE’s all-JAC fleet, helping the non-profit organisation deliver essential supplies to vulnerable communities throughout South Africa.

CARE operates a food-processing facility in Roodepoort, producing and distributing more than 500,000 nutritious meals each month to schools and communities facing food insecurity. The battery-electric X200 EV is ideally suited to CARE’s urban deliveries, reducing fuel and operating costs and lowering emissions.

“We are honoured to support CARE, a partnership that began more than six years ago and has grown stronger through our shared commitment to lasting change and to uplifting communities across South Africa,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa. “We are equally proud to support CARE’s transition to a new-energy fleet, helping to build a more sustainable future.”

Reliable transport is essential for humanitarian organisations operating across Southern Africa, where poor roads and damaged infrastructure often make remote communities difficult to reach. Adding two new trucks will strengthen CARE’s logistics network, improve efficiency and extend its reach, enabling critical support wherever it is needed. Monthly cash donations from JAC Motors and its dealer network further strengthen CARE’s capacity to meet growing social support needs across the country.

The partnership reflects JAC Motors’ commitment to supporting organisations that drive meaningful social impact. The battery-electric X200 EV provides CARE with a cost-effective, zero-emission solution for daily operations and community outreach. At the same time, the N140 9-tonne truck strengthens CARE’s capacity to collect and distribute food donations, emergency relief and essential supplies throughout Southern Africa.

“The partnership with JAC Motors is far more than a donation of two vehicles. It is an investment in our ability to reach more people, operate more efficiently and build a more sustainable future,” says Frank Weitsz, CEO of CARE. “The impact of the N140 9-tonne was immediate. Within 10 days of delivery, it enabled us to transport an additional 30 tonnes of food to communities in urgent need.”

“In line with our goal of creating a greener, more sustainable future, the X200 EV has exceeded expectations, saving us more than R10,000 on fuel in its first month of operation. These savings reinforce our decision to transition to a new-energy fleet, enabling us to direct more resources towards feeding and caring for hundreds of thousands of people each year.”

As JAC Motors approaches its first decade in South Africa, the company continues to invest in initiatives that uplift communities and support organisations driving lasting social impact. Through its expanding corporate social investment (CSI) partnerships, JAC Motors remains committed to advancing sustainable mobility solutions that strengthen communities, reduce environmental impact and create shared value nationwide.

“An estimated 14 to 20 million South Africans go to bed hungry every night. We are proud to support CARE in expanding its reach into some of Southern Africa’s most remote communities, delivering essential aid and creating opportunities for people to improve their lives,” concludes Göbel. “At JAC Motors, we believe mobility can strengthen communities and drive a more sustainable future.”
