A Re Sebetseng is a city-wide volunteer clean-up and civic participation movement that is going to be spread across Joburg. The initiative encourages residents, businesses, and communities to take ownership of their living conditions, as this correlates to safeguarding environmental health standards in public spaces.
The campaign was originally launched in 2017 by mayoral candidate Mashaba, during his tenure as Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg. It comprises of mobilisation through membership uptake and IEC voter registrations.
Through the campaign, ActionSA engaged with 58 Voting Districts located across nine wards to address pressing challenges affecting Alexandra residents. These include illegal dumping, littering, neglected public spaces, and environmental degradation.
During this 2026 iteration, the campaign focuses on poverty reduction to highlight the decline of our neighbourhoods due to a neglectful government. There is no question that the living conditions of residents of Alex is that of Forgotten People, whose lived reality depicts Joburg as a tale of two cities – one for the wealthy, and the other for the poor and unemployed. One of the Core Values of ActionSA is Social Justice, which the party believes that people of Alexandra also deserve.
ActionSA is demonstrating its commitment to lead with solutions that fix Joburg. This is one of the ways that ActionSA will prioritise service delivery that restores the dignity of its residents, no matter their postcode.

Van der Merwe goes to Paris to watch the Boks take on the Brits at the world cup.
Whilst in Paris, he walks around, gaping and staring at everything – so much so that he walks smack bang into a fire hydrant which hits him so hard on the family jewels that he has to be rushed to hospital where the doctors tell him they have to remove his testicles.
Van goes berserk, he bites and snarls at every one and he won\’t let anybody within 10 metres of him. Eventually they find a South African doctor in the hospital and get him to talk to Van.
He walks up to Van and tells him \”Hey Van, die ouens moet jou knaters uithaal.\”
Van replies \”O, okay, ek dog die bliksems wil my test tickets vat.\”
