AmaZulu FC’s Back to School Campaign

29 January 2026 by Guest

Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal – Mitsubishi Motors South Africa in partnership with AmaZulu FC, has rolled out a high impact Back to School initiative anchored in community upliftment and stakeholder value creation.

This year’s beneficiary, Lamontville High School, holds deep emotional resonance for the club, it’s the alma mater of AmaZulu goalkeeper Olwethu Mzimela, a proud son of Lamontville whose journey reflects the power of grassroots development.

The intervention saw 30 learners from vulnerable households receive essential back-to-school support, ensuring that they begin the academic year with confidence, dignity and the resources needed to thrive.

In partnership with AmaZulu FC, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa donated 30 pairs of school shoes along with uniforms to the learners of Lamontville High School.

In addition, a significant stationary donation to Lamontville High School will strengthen classroom readiness while connectivity support will empower digital access for learning. Mitsubishi Motors Pinetown stepped in with the donation of soccer kits which will contribute to upliftment on the sports field. BB Bakery made a much needed contribution in terms of sanitary towels and baked goods.

“Mitsubishi Motors value all the relationships and partnerships that we have and it was truly special to be able to support AmaZulu FC and Mzimela in giving back to the community that shaped his early career,” says Takalani Bruce Mukhola, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Motors SA.

Mitsubishi brand ambassador and AmaZulu FC goalkeeper Olwethu Mzimela was schooled at Lamontville High School and this initiative is part of the commitment to investing in the communities that shaped the clubs’ players.

Mitsubishi Motors SA is a proud team member of AmaZulu FC as their vehicle partner, ensuring mobility for players and staff throughout the season.

“The handover was a fun filled day with impromptu soccer games between learners and players, delicious catering and a Mitsubishi Triton and Xpander on display to inspire parents and learners alike,” says Mukhola.

Mzimela is a great role model for the children of his former school, returning to showcase that any of their dreams can come true with hard work but that one should also never forget where you came from.

“We are a proud supporter of AmaZulu FC on the field and were delighted to be invited to take part in their off-pitch activities too. The back-to-school initiative closely aligns with our own CSI objectives and we are grateful to the club for initiating this intervention,” concludes Mukhola.

National debt: South Africa’s debt to GDP ratio is 48%. Compared to the USA (100%), Japan (200%), and the UK (90%) South Africa does not do too badly in this department. The World Bank recommends a ratio of 60%. With reasonable debt levels the likelihood that the government is able to repay its debt is high and that its fiscal policy is sustainable. This is conducive for starting a business in South Africa, knowing that the government will still be able to continue spending and thus stimulate the economy.
