The post Bafana to host Ghana at the Dobsonville Stadium appeared first on South African Football Association.

10 December 2025 – Bafana Bafana will host Ghana at the Dobsonville Stadium in their final match before departure to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later this month.

The South African men’s senior national team will welcome the West Africans to Soweto on Tuesday, 16 December 2025 and then depart for Morocco on the following day ahead of their participation in the AFCON tournament to be held in the North African country from 21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026.

Coach Hugo Broos Broos said Bafana Bafana will not have the element of surprise they had in the previous tournament in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024 and he expects teams to have done their homework on his charges this time around.

“We showed that we are a good team (in the previous AFCON where Bafana Bafana finished with a bronze medal). Now everyone knows, everyone knows that we are a good team, and everyone knows that they will be ready to fight against us, try to win against us because winning against South Africa, now, is much different than winning two years ago,” he said.

“So it will be something different and I think we have to adapt ourselves from our first game already against Angola that we are ready. It will be like the previous AFCON”

Elias Mokwana said he was happy to be back with his Bafana Bafana colleagues after an extended period of absence, while newcomer Tylon Smith said he would grab any chance that comes his way in Morocco with both hands.

The Bafana Bafana medical team has been beefed up for the tournament following the addition of Bongani Manuku to the department. Senior Performance Analyst Sinesipho Mali will also not be alone in Morocco as Under-20 World Cup analyst Tinashe-Shingai Mukandatsama has joined his department.

Bafana Bafana are in Group B in the AFCON, and they will face Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe. The South Africans play their first match of the continental tournament against Angola on 22 December 2025.

South African Football: Bafana Bafana’s highest FIFA ranking was 16th in 1996.
