30 November 2024 – The South African U17 Girls National Team (Bantwana) has reported for camp ahead of the 2024 COSFA U17 Girls Championships on in Johannesburg.

This year’s edition of the girls COSAFA Championships will run concurrently with the boys’ tournament out at the UJ Soweto Campus from 4 – 13 December 2024.

Bantwana Head Coach Ntombifuthi Khumalo has called up a mixed squad as she will be hoping to continue her good run in junior COSAFA competitions.

Speaking to www.safa.net, Khumalo said she has called up players who have tasted victory and others that are still hungry for success.

“We have mixed this squad with players who recently participated in the COSAFA Schools Championships, players who have been part of the U17 National team and a few that play in the Hollywoodbets Super League,” said Khumalo.

“We will be looking to build a squad that will assist us in 2025 as we prepare for World Cup qualifiers so that our U17 National team can get back to winning ways.”

South Africa has been drawn in Group B and will battle it out against Malawi, Namibia and Madagascar for a place in the semi-finals of the regional showpiece.

Bantwana will open their tournament on 5 December 2024 at 12h30 against Malawi, then play Namibia on 7 December 2024, at 15h30. They will wrap up their group stage matches on 9 November 2024 against Madagascar at 15h30.
