11 February 2025 – The South African U17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) will assemble from 16 – 22 February 2025 for a one-week training camp ahead of their second round of 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria on 8 March and 15 Match 2025 (home and away).

Bantwana will be looking to go all out against the Flamingos of Nigeria when the two sides go head-to-head in the beginning of March 2025 as the youthful South African side aims to qualify for their third FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Head Coach Ntombifuthi Khumalo and her assistant, former Banyana Banyana striker Rhoda Mulaudzi, have been touring around the country over the past few weeks looking at players that may have been missed in the system.

A few weeks ago, they were in Cape Town and will host open trials this coming Saturday, 15 February 2025 at the SAFA Technical Centre for players based in Gauteng, but who do not play in elite leagues where they would easily be identified by national team selectors.

Player selected over this coming weekend will be invited to join the training camp and fight for a spot in the team against the core that beat Gabon 21- 2 on aggregate in the first round of the 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The All Blacks are one of the most successful teams in sporting history – The New Zealand All Blacks are one of the most successful teams in sporting history. Since 1903 when they played their first ever game, they have a win percentage of 78% in nearly 600 games. That stat is absolutely crazy when you think about it. They’ve also won 3 Rugby World Cups (though arguably should have won all of them apart from 1991 and 2003). They were also the first rugby team to win 500 test matches, one of many records establishing the All Blacks the world’s best team. Can you imagine winning 78% of all your games you play!?

Fun South African Fact: The Karoo region in the Western Cape is home to some of the best fossils of early dinosaurs. In fact, it is estimated that some 80% of the mammalian fossils found to date were found in the Karoo.
