Battery Thrown From Bridge Kills Woman

In the News Today: Pietermaritzburg businessman Shakthi Bunwarie wants people to be more aware of the fatal practise of criminals throwing dangerous objects over bridges on highways. This follows the death of his wife, Madhumathie Bunwarie (61), who was killed on Sunday afternoon when a battery was thrown from a bridge and struck their car.

Bunwarie said motorists needed to exercise extreme caution on the roads and has urged the South African Police Service (SAPS) to be more aggressive in their efforts to combat these life-threatening activities occurring on roads.

Bunwarie, who was driving on the N3 near the Pavilion Shopping Centre, said the battery smashed through the windscreen and hit his wife, who was seated in the passenger seat. Despite rushing his wife… continue reading HERE.
