South Africa’s inflation rate dipped to a 21-year low of 3.2% on average in 2025, with prices across the nation broadly in line with the new inflation target rate.

Consumer price inflation ticked marginally higher in December to end the year at 3.6%, up from 3.5% in November, with the month-on-month change in the consumer price index (CPI) at 0.2%.

Stats SA said that the average inflation rate for 2025 was 3.2%, which is the lowest rate since 2004’s 1.4%.
