South Africa’s car industry sold an incredible 54,700 units in September 2025, marking nine consecutive months of growing sales.
Naturally, the country’s top-sellers added to this total immensely, with the Toyota Hilux contributing 3,639 units all on its own.
This was followed by the VW Polo Vivo in second with 2,470, earning it the title of South Africa’s most popular passenger car.
The Hilux’s rival, the Ford Ranger, came next with 2,270 units, followed by the Suzuki Swift in fourth with 2,265 purchases.
