Breakthrough on Post Office Rescue

29 March 2026 by Guest

Statement by Tsholofelo Bodlani MP – DA Spokesperson on Communications & Digital Technologies:

The Democratic Alliance welcomes the positive progress made in yesterday’s Portfolio Committee meeting, where a clear pathway has emerged for the Post Office to exit Business Rescue in the near future. This development is a critical step in avoiding liquidation and creates an opportunity for the South African Post Office to reposition itself through meaningful partnerships with the private sector.

The Post Office remains an important institution for many South Africans, particularly in providing access to essential services in underserved and rural communities. Its continued operation, in a sustainable and modernised form, is therefore of significant public interest.

We commend the constructive approach taken under the leadership of DA Minister, Solly Malatsi, and look forward to further reforms that will restore stability, improve service delivery, and ensure the long-term viability of the Post Office.
