Brink’s Lies Expose His Fears and Failures

14 October 2026 by Melanie

Brink’s deepest fear is not that the City of Tshwane should recover under an ActionSA-ANC-EFF coalition, but that his utter failure as a leader would be exposed by a young, Black, female Mayor two years later.

The post Brink’s Lies Expose His Fears and Failures appeared first on ActionSA.

Brink’s deepest fear is not that the City of Tshwane should recover under an ActionSA-ANC-EFF coalition, but that his utter failure as a leader would be exposed by a young, Black, female Mayor two years later.
Brink served as Executive Mayor of Tshwane from March 2023 to September 2024, during which time money owed to ESKOM ballooned from R1,1 billion to R6,67 billion! Under DA-led administration, by October 2024, Tshwane had passed 4 unfunded budgets in a row, and grown the debtors’ book to R26 billion, with R10 billion owing to creditors.

To cover for his failures, Brink told the media in September 2024, that Tshwane had submitted a payment plan to ESKOM five months earlier. In fact, the city’s current account was quite the opposite! He had lied without flinching, and has never been asked by the media to account for his lies since!

Under Brink, bulk water loss rose from 27% in March 2023 to 38% in May 2024. On the same Water Security Dashboard from the Department of Water & Sanitation, a high water leak backlog of 5,603 was recorded in October 2024. Comparatively, City of Ekurhuleni had a backlog of 420 water leaks and City of Johannesburg had 753 that month.

These numbers alone are proof of Brink’s inability to maintain the existing water infrastructure while Mayor, which ultimately birthed the scourge of water tankers, which he now so passionately campaigns on! Context matters.

Brink’s empty threat that “Moya will be remembered as the ActionSA politician who handed control of the City over to the same ANC comrades, cadres and tenderpreurs that nearly destroyed the City in the first place” is a dismal attempt to deflect from the elephant in the room.

In 2016, the DA took over government in Tshwane. Residents do not need to be reminded of the first DA Mayor Solly Msimanga, who was implicated in the irregular R12 billion GladAfrica tender awarded in 2017, the same one who spent R63 million on Caedonian Stadium, but had nothing to show for it. Recently promoted as DA Federal Chairperson, Solly is also famous for cadre deployment: Stefan de Villiers barely had a matric and body building certificate when he became his Chief of Staff, and Marietha Aucamp lied about her qualifications.

The 2nd DA Mayor Stephens Mokgalapa was appointed in February 2019, during which time the Edwin Sodi-led consortium scored the infamous Rooiwal tender. He resigned a year later following a sex-scandal with a DA colleague.

The 3rd DA Mayor Randall Williams was implicated in the unsolicited bid Kratos Consortium in 2022, and recent findings at Madlanga Commission reveal how Gubis 85 Solutions and Triotic Protection Services were awarded the same year. It would seem that the more Brink tries to pin allegations of cadre deployment and corruption on others, the more those lies end up exposing him.

In May 2024, ANC and DA signed a coalition agreement to co-govern at a national level, and ANC Panyaza Lesufi became Premier of Gauteng with DA support.

For these reasons, DA will be remembered as the political party that handed control of the country and province back to the same ANC comrades, cadres and tenderpreurs that nearly destroyed the country and province in the first place.

In Tshwane, Brink will be remembered as the incompetent leader who nearly destroyed the Capital City within 18 months, and then spent the next 18 months spewing lies about ActionSA Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya, in an effort to cover up for his failures.

The End of Year Report delivered by the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Dr Nasiphi Moya, is testimony of milestones reached by the ActionSA-ANC-EFF government in fixing a very broken city.  On 4 November, give ActionSA five more years to finish what Dr Nasiphi Moya has begun.

ActionSA Electoral Growth: Expanded quickly into KZN and the Western Cape.
