Cape Town Coin Show Welcomes Collectors to a Historic Numismatic Gathering

Cape Town, 8 November 2025 – Century City Conference Centre

Coin enthusiasts, investors, and history lovers are invited to join Bassani’s Auction House and the South African Numismatic Grading Service (SANGS) at the Cape Town Coin Show – a highlight on the South African numismatic calendar taking place on Saturday, 8 November 2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Century City Conference Centre.

Hosted by respected members of the South African Association of Numismatic Dealers (SAAND), the event promises a vibrant showcase of South Africa’s finest coins and collectibles – from rare treasures of the past to modern investment-grade pieces that continue to capture the imagination of collectors worldwide.

This year’s show marks an exciting moment for the industry with the release of the 2025 1 oz Silver Proof Krugerrand featuring the exclusive Cape Town Privy Mark, limited to just 500 coins. Collectors can purchase these sought-after pieces directly from SAAND dealers at the show.

“This event reflects the heart of our industry – passion, expertise, and community,” says Dillon Bassani, CEO of Bassani’s Auction House. “It’s always incredible to see new collectors discover the magic of numismatics while seasoned investors reconnect with the shared stories behind South African coinage.”

Adding to the excitement, SANGS will facilitate the First Release Grading of the 2025 Silver Krugerrand Cape Town Privy. Collectors and dealers can have their coins encapsulated at a special rate of R150 per coin, with each graded slab featuring a serial number matched to the South African Mint’s official numbering. Coins may be submitted on the day or within one week thereafter to qualify for the First Release designation.

According to Dario Deligiannidis, Managing Director of SANGS, “The Cape Town Privy Krugerrand captures both innovation and heritage. By grading and encapsulating these coins, we’re ensuring their authenticity and long-term preservation – a legacy that future collectors can continue to appreciate.”

Landon Coleske, historian and numismatic specialist at Bassani’s Auction House, adds that the event goes beyond collecting. “Each coin tells a story of history, design, and resilience. The beauty of a show like this lies in the conversations it sparks – between generations, across cultures, and within a community united by curiosity and passion.”

Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Bassani’s Auction House and SANGS stands to meet the teams, view graded collections, and learn more about the grading process, upcoming auctions, and investment opportunities in the ever-evolving world of numismatics.
