Career-Best Third Position for Henry

13 August 2025 by Guest

New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has attained a career-best third position after contributing to his team’s innings and 359 runs win over Zimbabwe in the second Test in Bulawayo that completed a 2-0 series win for the visiting side.

The 33-year-old from Canterbury, who had crossed 800 rating points for the first time after the first Test to reach fourth position, continued his ascent with hauls of five for 40 and two for 16 in the second Test to be named the Player of the Series.

Henry is now on 846 rating points, just five behind Kagiso Rabada in the list led by Jasprit Bumrah with 889 rating points. Debutant Zakary Foulkes is another New Zealand bowler to prosper, his nine-wicket match haul enabling him to enter the rankings at an impressive 61st position.

Three New Zealand batters who all got big centuries in the match – Rachin Ravindra (165), Devon Conway (153) and Henry Nicholls (150 not out) have also made huge gains. Ravindra is up 15 places to 23rd, opener Conway has moved from 44th to 37th and Nicholls has gained six slots to reach 47th position. Zimbabwe batter Nick Welch is in the top 100 after scoring 47 not out in the second innings.

The T20I Rankings see Australia batter Tim David move back into the top 10 after consecutive half-centuries in the first two matches of the home series against South Africa while Cameron Green has moved from 23rd to 17th.

South Africa batter Dewald Brevis is the biggest mover, his explosive 125 not out off 56 balls in the second match lifting him 80 places to a career-best 21st position, while his team-mate Tristian Stubbs has gained 12 places to reach 27th position.

In the ODI Rankings, that considers performances in the first two matches of the West Indies-Pakistan series, Evin Lewis of the West Indies (up nine places to 82nd) and Abdullah Shafique of Pakistan (up seven places to 90th) have gained in the batting rankings while West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie (up five places to 12th), seamer Jayden Seales (up 24 places to 33rd) and Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed (up three places to 54th) have progressed in the bowling rankings.
