Chery South Africa Achieves Record Sales

6 November 2024 by Guest

Chery South Africa reported record-breaking October sales of 1,831 vehicles, reflecting a 33.7% increase compared to October 2023. The brand ranks in the top 10 for overall new vehicle sales and is the fifth best-performing OEM in the passenger car market.

This strong performance builds on impressive monthly results in the new passenger vehicle segment, with Chery recording 1,614 sales in September and 1,626 in August. Industry-wide sales figures for October reached 47,942 units, representing an increase of 5.5%.

“Chery has had a record month for sales in October, highlighting the brand’s growth in the local market,” said Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Chery South Africa. “This wouldn’t have been possible without our dealer network’s hard work and commitment, and we’re thankful for their continued support.”

Sales increased substantially in the third quarter, with 4,941 vehicles sold between July and September. This marks 18.2% year-on-year growth compared to Q3 2023, showcasing Chery South Africa’s progress over the past year.

Chery’s ongoing sales success underscores its value-driven lineup of appealing SUVs, designed to cater to a diverse range of customers with varying requirements. The growth in sales can be attributed to the continuous addition of new variants and options, the latest of which is the Tiggo Cross.

The Tiggo 4 Pro stands out among Chery’s models, with 1,079 examples sold last month. The Tiggo 7 Pro followed with 525 sales, while the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro contributed 150 units. The newly introduced Tiggo Cross quickly gained traction, achieving 77 sales in its debut month.

Earlier this year, Chery expanded into the lucrative LCV market with the Tiggo 4 Pro panel van, an affordable and spacious option for small businesses. The introduction of a DCT transmission option for the Tiggo 4 Pro has further enhanced its appeal to South African consumers.

“Chery South Africa’s sales performance reflects the strong market demand for our versatile SUV lineup. With consistent growth across key model lines and strategic expansions, such as our entry into the LCV segment, we’re well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of South African consumers,” concluded Botes.
