Clearwater Mall is taking this winter’s school holidays back to basics with Oh Happy Days, a mini sports and games activation built around bowling, basketball, board games and good old-fashioned play rather than screens.

Running from 27 June to 11 July 2026 at Rochester Court on the mall’s upper level, the activation offers mini ten-pin bowling, mini basketball hoops, a giant noughts and crosses board and a family boardgame corner, alongside a craft station and more for children and their families to enjoy together.

Oh Happy Days gives children the chance to move, play and compete just for fun. Clearwater Mall wanted this year’s Winter school break to feel like a throwback, the kind of holiday many parents will remember from their own childhoods.

“We wanted to create something different to the usual school holiday workshop,” says Prianka Singh Rodgers, Marketing Manager at Clearwater Mall. “With this range of activities running every day for two weeks, families do not need a special occasion to come along. Oh Happy Days can become a regular part of the school holidays to do list, somewhere parents can bring the kids back to more than once.”

Oh Happy Days runs Monday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, for the full two-week school holiday period. Slots cost R50 and can be booked via Webtickets.

For a nostalgic, low-cost way to fill the school holidays, Clearwater Mall’s Rochester Court is worth a visit this winter.

\’Brave\’ is one of those words that has been bleached of most of its meaning these days, thanks to far too many appearances in the glaring light of ad slogans and corporate Public Relations. I never thought about anything as brave anymore; it just seemed like a flabby, glib cliche. – Susan Orlean
