DURBAN: A special knock from Jason Smith (116* off 103) propelled the Hollywoodbets Dolphins to victory over North West Dragons at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on Friday.

Smith came to the crease with Dolphins trailing on 54/3 to steer the ship home for the hosts. He anchored crucial partnerships in the middle, including 74 runs with Tshepang Dithole (34) for the fifth wicket followed by 79 runs with Andile Phehlukwayo (25).

A thrilling encounter which saw Dolphins needing six from eight before Smith blasted a maximum to secure victory with seven balls to spare, and Dolphins finished the innings on 264/7.

Earlier, Dragons were off to a worthy start after half centuries from Raynard Van Tonder (54), Wihan Lubbe (67) and Senuran Muthusamy (67) helped the visitors set the target to 264 runs.

After electing to bowl firsts, Daryn Dupavillon (3/43) starred with the ball for the hosts, supported in the attack by skipper Ethan Bosch (2/44) and Ottniel Baartman (2/43) who returned two scalps each. Andile Phehlukwayo and Jon Jon Smuts also registered their names as Dragons ended their innings on 263/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

In Division 2, Andile Simelane led with the bat, smashing 110 off 72 (10 boundaries and 6 maximums) to aid SA Emerging to a respectable target of 288 all out against Mpumalanga Rhinos in Pretoria. The Rhinos set up a qualified chase to win the game by three wickets.

In Kimberly, Northern Cape Heat fell short by three runs against Eastern Storm whilst Limpopo Impalas secured a 24-run victory against Eastern Cape Iinyathi in East London.
