CTU Insurance has once again joined hands with the national Santa Shoebox Project, a beloved initiative that delivers personalised gift boxes to underprivileged children across South Africa. As an insurance company committed to driving real impact beyond policies and premiums, CTU sees this initiative as a chance to bring joy, uplift children, and strengthen community bonds.
To kick off the season of giving, CTU staff came together for a vibrant Box Folding Drive. A team of 73 enthusiastic “CTU Elfies” volunteered their time to fold and prepare boxes for packing.
On 9 November 2025, CTU representatives delivered 100 Santa Shoeboxes, thereafter, spending time personally ensuring numerous boxes contained the perfect mix of stationary and personal essentials (plus festive treats!), spreading smiles and festive cheer to children across the country.

Keep in mind, the news media are not independent; they are a sort of bulletin board and Public Relations firm for the ruling class-the people who run things. Those who decide what news you will or will not hear are paid by, and tolerated purely at the whim of, those who hold economic power. If the parent corporation doesn\’t want you to know something, it won\’t be on the news. Period. Or, at the very least, it will be slanted to suit them, and then rarely followed up. – George Carlin

When Bernays first started writing about Public Relations, he referred to it as an ‘applied social science’. At the time (around 1920), the concept of social psychology was gaining popularity. And, thanks to his double uncle, the public was starting to accept the idea of psychology more and more. Bernays viewed PR as a way of understanding the attitudes and behaviors of crowds and how to change them. Back then, communication was just one of the ways to achieve that.
