DA Federal Congress 2026 Leadership Candidates

24 March 2026 by Guest
Statement by Werner Horn and Bridget Masango – Presiding Officers of Federal Congress:
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has today announced the candidates nominated to stand for election to key leadership positions at the Party’s elective Federal Congress, taking place on 11 and 12 April 2026.
In just 19 days, Federal Congress delegates will participate in a democratic internal election to choose the leadership that will guide the DA into our next chapter.
Nominations for leadership candidates opened on 27 February 2026 and closed on Monday, 23 March 2026.
In terms of clause 6.1.4 of the DA Federal Constitution, Federal Congress is responsible for electing the Federal Leader, the Federal Chairperson, and three Deputy Federal Chairpersons.
As Presiding Officers of the DA Federal Congress, we have the pleasure of announcing the following duly nominated candidates, whose nominations have been vetted and found to be compliant:
For Three Deputy Federal Chairpersons:
  • Brink, Cilliers
  • Echeozonjoku, Belinda
  • Gwarube, Siviwe
  • Malatsi, Solly
  • Marais, Anroux
  • Mbombo, Nomafrench
  • Nyati, Nicholas
For Federal Chairperson:
  • Meyer, Ivan
  • Msimanga, Solly
For Federal Leader of the DA:
  • Dyonase, Sibusiso
  • Hill-Lewis, Geordin
Candidate campaigns are now underway and they will canvass delegates, seeking their support at the election to be held at the Federal Congress in April. All candidate campaigns must comply with strict internal rules for campaigning, which the DA applies without fear or favour.
The DA looks forward to a robust campaigning period ahead of Federal Congress.
