inDrive began as an exercise of justice.

It was New Year’s Eve 2012 in the northern city of Yakutsk, when temperatures dropped to -45°C (-49 °F), and local taxi companies responded with a coordinated doubling of their rates, leaving many locals stranded in the Siberian winter. This collusive and unfair price hike angered the citizens of Yakutsk, who banded together on social media to request, offer, and most importantly, agree on fair prices for their rides. This grassroots, collective, online action eventually became the inDrive app.

inDrive operates in the largest metropolitan areas at the highest levels of competition. It also operates in small villages with a population of just seven to eight thousand residents which often have very weak internet connections and no maps. We have the ability to successfully adapt to the needs of residents of any village, town or city.

The app popularity is growing because of our unique people-to-people model and Human Driven approach.

Transparent terms: Total transparency brings back the feeling of control. There are no algorithms or price manipulation. Drivers see the exact route before accepting, they can also choose which rides to respond to and passengers are free to choose a driver.

Cost is always fair: The cost of services with inDrive is fair. This is because our people-to-people model allows users to agree amongst themselves on a price that satisfies both parties.

Direct payments: Passengers pay drivers directly. This allows us to reduce costs and maintain lower fares. The payment for the services for the providers is also the lowest in the market.

In July 2023 inDrive marked the milestone of supporting passengers, drivers, colleagues, and all of users across 47 countries and more than 700 cities.

inDrive is a company of INDRIVERRU LTD – a Limited Company registered in Cyprus with Registration Number ΗΕ 333944. It was registered on 11 Jul 2014.

inDriver was founded in 2012 in Yakutsk, one of the coldest cities in the world. The service originated when a group of local students established a collective group of “independent drivers” (i.e. inDrivers) on social media in response to a sharp increase in taxi prices when outside temperatures dropped precipitously. Members of the group shared where they wanted to go and the prices they were willing to pay, allowing drivers to in turn contact these customers and negotiate prices. One year later, the group moved to the Sinet Company which created a peer-to-peer transportation-based system based on this concept.

In 2013, inDriver was officially launched.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, inDrive divested its interests in the Russian market in June 2022, and relocated 1,000 employees from Russia to Kazakhstan and Cyprus.
