Dividend Diggers – Check out This Months List

8 April 2024 by Alan

This week might be a chance to get a little extra cash in your pocket – especially if you have some spare cash to throw into your Easy Equities account with a mix of first-time dividends, special dividends, and some bumped-up payouts.

There are also several corporate actions taking place in which investors still have the opportunity to participate.

Cash payouts:

  • CuriosityStream Inc., an American media company focused on factual entertainment, announced that it will be initiating a quarterly dividend payout.
  • Weibo Corporation (WB), a Chinese social media giant, and Cardno Limited, an infrastructure and environmental services company, will pay a special dividend – WB will pay its second special dividend in a row!
  • Freeport-McMoRan Inc., a prominent American mining company involved in copper and gold, will be paying a base dividend along with a variable dividend, which depends on the company’s earnings.
  • Harbour Energy PLC, one of the largest independent oil and gas companies listed in the British market, increased its dividend payout by 8%.

Corporate actions like share consolidation, unbundling, and delistings:

  • Amid the rising uranium prices, Paladin Energy, an Australian-listed uranium exploration company, plans to undergo a reverse stock split (share consolidation), which the company believes would reflect its position as an ASX 200 company and potentially attract a wider range of investors.
  • As the demand for used cars is expected to continue growing, WeBuyCars, one of South Africa’s largest pre-owned vehicle resellers, will be listed on the JSE later this week (unbundling from Transactional Capital) and plans to pay dividends twice a year; as part of the unbundling, Transaction Capital will be offering its existing shareholders WBC at a specified ratio.
  • African Equity Empowerment Investments, a South African investment firm, intends to buy all AEEI ordinary shares; the shares will be suspended from trading during the week, thereafter delisting from the JSE.

Dudu Msomi – Founder and CEO of Busara Leadership Partners: At 24, Dudu Msomi impressed her interviewer so much with her views and input into their current clients that she was offered a job and placed on the Pepsi account. She was given a seat at the table with shareholders and this allowed her to give input. Interacting at that level at the beginning of her professional journey helped to shape her, and her interest in corporate governance. Now, Msomi is a well-known and respected strategy facilitator for boards and management, a leadership and executive coach and team builder. Part of her objective at Busara Leadership Partners is to develop effective leaders with knowledge and wisdom she\’s gained from her many years operating in the business industry.
