26 November 2025 – Sasol Banyana Banyana coach Dr Desiree Ellis expects a physical battle when her charges face Morocco away from home in the North African country next week.

Dr Ellis’ charges will face the Moroccans at a venue still to be confirmed on Tuesday 2 December 2025. The coach will use the match as part of her preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be held in Morocco from 17 March–3 April 2026.

“Morocco, they are probably the best team in North Africa at the moment. You know, two successive WAFCON finals and they’re growing in leaps and bounds. You know that they will bring the physicality,” she said.

“They will also bring their positional play and they will want to see, you know, we will want to see how we match up against them. We’ve played a lot of physical teams this year, but we haven’t played so many teams that play similarly to us. So it will be a good challenge for us to see what we can take out of this game.”

The team assembled in Johannesburg on Monday, 24 November 2025 and will depart for Morocco on Friday, 28 November 2025.
