Driving SA’s Sporting Talent to Success

Chery South Africa is pleased to announce a new partnership with the National Premier League (NPL). The partnership aims to provide opportunities for fledgling players nationwide and nurture their talent.

The cooperation between Chery South Africa and the NPL comes from their shared values, which come from creating an empowering and inclusive environment for all South Africans. “This partnership reflects Chery South Africa’s desire to unlock the potential of South Africa’s future bright stars, be it in the sporting arena or elsewhere,” commented Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa.

As the NPL’s Official Mobility Partner, Chery will provide officials with a fleet of SUVs, ensuring safe and stylish transport to NPL meetings and events.

Chery and the NPL will provide future generations with the knowledge they need to succeed. Connecting athletes and coaches with young talents will ensure that their experience and wisdom are passed on and that the South African sporting heritage remains strong. Promising individuals will receive a direct pathway to reach the height of their preferred sporting stream.

Previous alums of the NPL include more than 50 players who have since succeeded on the international stage, including the recently completed SA20 tournament. This includes the wonder kid Lhuan-dre Pretorius who has taken the world by storm.

Chery South Africa is deeply committed to the South African people, particularly the youth. In October, the automaker awarded its first Chery Scholarship, with the winner, Paul Melinda, receiving a R250,000 scholarship and a 12-month internship.

Other initiatives include the With Chery With Love (WCWL) program, which strengthens the brand’s bond with South Africa through projects like the Chery Foundation, which is dedicated to uplifting communities.

“This partnership is another step in our journey with South Africa, reinforcing our long-term commitment to the country, its people, and the next generation of sporting talent,” concluded Petersen.
