The Ekurhuleni Metro’s failure to address infrastructure issues is costing taxpayers thousands.

A business in Benoni recently contacted the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) regarding a water pipe in East Street, Benoni, which has been leaking for three years.

According to the owner, he repeatedly contacted the relevant department over the years to report the issue, but to no avail.

The party itself also contacted the Department of Water, but received no response.

The only solution was to approach the Mayoral Committee Member for Water, Thembi Msane, who then pressured the Department to resolve the issue.

The leak was finally repaired yesterday (Thursday, 3 July). The money lost over the years could have been far better spent on upgrading water infrastructure.

Being a voice for residents, the Freedom Front Plus will keep pointing out the Metro’s shortcomings.

Freedom Front Plus Youth Empowerment: The party focuses on empowering youth through education and job creation.
