England and Australia Earn Victories

10 June 2026 by Guest

England and Australia both earned victories in the final ICC Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up matches.

England got past India in a thrilling five-run victory, with Amy Jones and Nat Sciver-Brunt both impressing with the bat in Cardiff.

Australia then defeated the West Indies by six wickets thanks to a fine knock from Georgia Voll.

England 171/6 defeat India 166 all out by five runs

Amy Jones and Nat Sciver-Brunt both starred with half centuries as England beat India by five runs in a thrilling warm-up match for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The pair provided the platform for victory with the bat, as England (ICC Ranking: 2) successfully defended their total despite the brilliant efforts of Richa Ghosh for India (ICC Ranking: 3).

Jones cracked a brilliant 64 off 45 balls and formed an excellent partnership with captain Sciver-Brunt (57) after fellow opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge fell for three to Renuka Singh Thakur.

Shafali Verma took the important wicket of Jones in the 13th over before Alice Capsey (2) was caught and bowled by Radha Yadav shortly after.

But Danielle Gibson dug in for a gutsy 30 off 12 to steer England to a total of 171 to defend.

It proved just enough despite a slow start to India’s chase, as Smriti Mandhana fell to Linsey Smith for just one.

India’s top order largely struggled to get going, as Verma (13), Yastika Bhatia (15), Harmanpreet Kaur (17) and Bharti Fulmali (18) fell at regular intervals to leave them 87 for five in the 13th over.

But Ghosh grabbed the innings by the scruff of the neck, and produced a standout knock of 68 off just 36 balls to drag India back into the contest even as wickets continued to fall around her.

She hit 21 off the penultimate over and 10 off the first two balls of the final over but was eventually stumped off Smith, who then dismissed Singh Thakur to seal victory for England.

Australia 132/4 defeat West Indies 131 all out by six wickets

Georgia Voll hit an unbeaten 77 to steer Australia to a six-wicket win over the West Indies.

Opener Voll carried her bat after crashing 77 off just 48 balls, as Australia (ICC Ranking: 1) reached their required total of 132 in just 15 overs.

Deandra Dottin’s 46 helped push the West Indies (ICC Ranking: 7) to 131 all out but it proved an undefendable total in Cardiff.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat but struggled to get going as they lost two wickets in the powerplay.

Qiana Joseph departed to Lucy Hamilton for five before Aaliyah Alleyne was bowled for 10 by Sophie Molineux.

Captain Hayley Matthews (15) was bowled by Georgia Wareham to leave the West Indies 52 for three but Dottin anchored the innings with a well-fought 46 off 38 balls.

She could not stop the further fall of wickets before she was run out to leave her side 112 for six with just over 3.3 overs remaining.

Ashleigh Gardner and Kim Garth then cleaned up the tail as the West Indies finished on 131 all out.

Australia started their chase strongly, as Voll and Beth Mooney combined for 48 off the powerplay.

Mooney retired out at the end of the powerplay having hit 34 off 18 balls, before Ellyse Perry was then out for five to Karishma Ramharack.

Gardner (7) and Wareham (1) also fell cheaply but nothing could stop a rampant Voll, who continued to motor and bring Australia home with overs to spare.
