if you are exhausted from all the Black Friday exclusive deals and you need some downtime from the retail frenzy, Ster-Kinekor has the perfect solution. Book movie tickets for any 2D or 3D film showing at your favourite cinema on Friday, 28 November, and you will pay the crazy Black Friday price of only R99 for your movie ticket plus a small popcorn and 500ml drink of your choice.

“We know consumers are bombarded with Black Friday specials throughout November. Our deal gives them the opportunity to just sit back, relax and be taken on a journey to another world for a few hours. Customers will still be spoilt for choice with the line-up of films on offer, but we promise there will be something to suit everyone,” says Lynne Wylie, chief marketing officer of Ster-Kinekor.

With the release of the animated sequel, Zootropolis 2, on 28 November, Ster-Kinekor’s Black Friday deal gives you the perfect opportunity to catch this big new title on release day! After cracking the biggest case in Zootopia’s history, rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find their partnership isn’t as solid as they thought when Chief Bogo orders them to join the Partners in Crisis counseling programme. But it doesn’t take long for their partnership to be put to the ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis.

And, with the much-anticipated Wicked: For Good having released on 21 November, why not treat yourself to this spellbinding story of friendship, courage, and destiny long before Oz was ever “wonderful” on Black Friday. The film stars the incredible Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo who, together with the rest of the cast, bring Oz back to life with dazzling music and a touch of emerald magic.

If you are looking for a bit of dark magic and illusion to keep the Black Friday blues away, the movie for you is Now You See Me, Now You Don’t. This film has a local flavour, starring South African actor Thabang Molaba as Rosamund Pike’s henchman, as The Four Horsemen return with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.

“Actually, local is lekker on Black Friday with the release of two new titles, Bird Boy, and the compilation of short films packaged as Heart & Hustle from rising young director and actor Enrico Hartzenberg. We’re thrilled to support emerging talent such as Enrico and Hartzenberg Films. Screening local films in cinema is vital to keeping the culture of cinema-going alive in South Africa, and we’re proud to play a role in showcasing stories that reflect the richness and complexity of our communities,” says Wylie.

If less harsh reality and more sweet romcom is to your liking, Eternity should make you feel good for all the right reasons. In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend eternity, Joan is faced with the impossible choice between the man she spent her life with and her first love, who died young and has waited decades for her to arrive. Releasing on 28 November, the film stars Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner.

With Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution currently screening, anime fans can enjoy this title with the R99 Black Friday special. A veil abruptly descends over the busy Shibuya area amid the bustling Halloween crowds, trapping countless civilians inside. In the aftermath, ten colonies across Japan are transformed into dens of curses.

“In addition to the many new titles making their way onto the big screen on Black Friday, there are of course all the films currently on circuit that can be enjoyed at the special Black Friday price, ensuring that movie lovers are spoilt for choice at Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country,” says Wylie.
