To support the two-day voter registration period, planned maintenance work in areas identified as voter registration centres will be temporarily suspended, enabling an uninterrupted and reliable supply to these areas.
This has been made possible through careful planning, increased monitoring of the network, and the prioritisation of electricity supply to locations where voter registration activities are taking place.
Reliable electricity supply is essential for the successful operation of voter registration stations, including the functioning of electronic equipment, communications systems, lighting, and other services required to ensure an efficient registration process. The temporary suspension of planned works will help minimise disruptions and enable electoral officials to provide uninterrupted services to the public.
As a state-owned entity, Eskom recognises the importance of supporting national priorities by providing stable electricity and creating an enabling environment for citizens to participate fully in democratic processes. The decision reflects Eskom’s commitment to balancing the operational requirements of the power system with the broader interests of the country.
We urge communities to assist us in keeping our infrastructure safe by reporting any illegal activities on 0800 11 2722 or SAPS.
