We invite you to an evening of music, poetry, and storytelling as Met Woord & Lied comes to the Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees 2026 programme on Friday, 9 Oct at 18:30.
Blending Afrikaans choral masterpieces, hymns and folksongs with contemporary poetry, Met Woord & Lied is an intimate concert celebrating the enduring beauty of language and shared memory. Guests will experience settings of iconic verse by celebrated poets including Ina Rousseau, Boerneef, Elisabeth Eybers, and C. Louis Leipoldt. The production explores how words and melodies can travel through time — changing meaning from generation to generation while still carrying the same emotional resonance.
The production features poetry readings by award-winning performing artist Frieda van den Heever (recipient of ATKV-Mediaveertjie and Fiësta awards), with text specially curated to support the choral pieces.
