Johannesburg, South Africa – Independent South African hip-hop artist Emtidozf is gaining another international point of exposure as his single “Pull Up” appears in the recorded playlist history of PDX Radio in the United States.
Released in May 2025, “Pull Up” is continuing to find audiences beyond its South African origins. The track has now been documented playing on PDX Radio on multiple occasions, placing the independent release within the station’s recorded hip-hop and R&B programming.
PDX Radio is an independent platform focused on hip-hop and R&B, featuring music from independent artists alongside established names in the genre. Its platform also incorporates audience engagement through song requests and voting, as well as radio programming, charts and artist-focused content.
For Emtidozf, the airplay represents another development in the international journey of a song released independently from Johannesburg.
“I made ‘Pull Up’ independently, so seeing the record continue to reach people outside South Africa means a lot to me,” says Emtidozf. “Every time the song reaches a new audience, it reminds me that the journey is bigger than where I started.”
The track has also attracted listeners from international markets, including the United States and Canada, while continuing to appear through independent playlist activity.
Emtidozf, whose real name is Mfundo Mangola, has been developing his music independently while building an audience across digital platforms. His work combines hip-hop with personal experiences and lyrical expression.
The continued PDX Radio airplay comes as the Johannesburg artist prepares his next release, which is expected to present a more energetic side of his developing sound.
For an independent artist, the latest development provides another example of how a song released without major-label backing can continue to travel beyond its original market and find opportunities through international digital and radio platforms.
