Flood victims lose court bid for emergency housing

Magistrate dismisses application by Point Road families

Displaced flood victims have lost a court bid to get theThekwini municipality to provide them with alternative accommodation.
They were evicted from their temporary accommodation and say they have nowhere else to go and will have to go on sleeping on the pavement.
The municipality says they do not meet the criteria for assisted accommodation.

Flood victims in Durban say they have no choice but remain on the pavement with their belongings after the court dismissed their bid to get the eThekwini municipality to provide further emergency housing.
