Ford Achieves Record Exports

5 December 2024 by Guest

Ford South Africa notched up two significant achievements in November 2024 by leading the vehicle exports for the month, and recording its highest monthly sales volume in more than three years which placed it fourth overall on the domestic sales charts.

A total of 10 574 Rangers were exported from Ford’s Silverton Manufacturing Plant in November – the highest figure achieved to date for the current-generation Ranger which was launched in December 2022.

At the same time, Ranger remained one of South Africa’s most popular vehicles in fourth place overall and third in dealer retail sales, with the 2 248 units sold in November giving it a 24.9 percent share of the crucial light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment. Ranger retained its status as the top-selling leading double cab bakkie in South Africa.

This solid Ranger performance contributed towards Ford reaching its highest combined sales volume since June 2021 on 3 071 units, placing it fourth in the overall results for the second consecutive month and the eighth time this year.

“The industry has seen some marginal upward momentum over the past two months in the passenger car segment, although LCV volumes have contracted year-on-year. Nevertheless, we have seen positive movement in our sales results, achieving our highest volume in more than three years on the back of our exciting product launches this year,” says Ryan Searle, director of Sales Operations, Ford South Africa.

The Ford Territory notched up 326 sales in November, while the Everest sold 282 units – the latter maintaining second place in the medium traditional utility segment with an 18.9 percent share.

This was also the first full sales month for the highly anticipated seventh-generation Mustang, with a total of 65 units sold, comprising the Mustang GT and the thrilling new Mustang Dark Horse – both of which are sold out well into next year.
