Gauteng Provincial Congress Results

13 August 2023 by Guest

Dear Editor

It gives us great pleasure to announce the results of the DA Gauteng Provincial Congress election, which took place today, 12 August 2023.

Voting for the contested positions took place using the online OpaVote system. This system ensures that voting can be done in a speedy, but reliable manner. These results are consequently the product of an election that was compliant with all of the DA election rules and requirements.

As presiding officers, we can therefore say that today’s election was free and fair.

Gauteng is a battleground province, and heading into the 2024 Elections the elected provincial leadership will play a vital role to help rescue this province. Gauteng deserves democracy, and today, the province got just that.

We would also like to thank the nearly 800 delegates who made their way to Congress, not only were your voices heard, but you chartered the course the party will take. This is what democracy looks like.

The results of the elections are as follows:

  • Provincial Leader: Solly Msimanga
  • Provincial Chairperson: Fred Nel
  • Deputy Provincial Chairperson: Pogiso Mthumunye

Regards

Werner Horn MP
Presiding Officer
