At least 100 immigrants are being held in police cells across five Western Cape towns for charges related to overstaying their visas.
Some have been detained since June.
Last week, the Western Cape Coalition Against Xenophobia said people were being held in overcrowded and inhumane conditions.
SAPS has rejected allegations of indiscriminate arrests and unlawful treatment of detainees.
