Important South African project delayed for 15 years while citizens and companies suffer | SA News


Communications minister Solly Malatsi says approximately 98,000 decoder-like set-top boxes (STBs) remain to be installed by 31 March 2026 for South Africa’s broadcast digital migration (BDM) project.

The minister was responding to a Parliamentary question from ANC MP Shaik Imraan Subrathie, and he added that completing these installations is a priority for his department.

“As of 13 November 2025, 98,152 registered households remained against a target of 447,815. Completion of the remaining installations is planned…
