People often joke and refer to Cape Town as a “dorp” or a village. It’s not because of its size, but rather due to the pace at which it moves. However, the residents of this large village know that when it does crawl, it moves with generosity. Dotted every over the Western Cape, initiatives, private partnerships, and brands are gearing up to connect, share their stories, and plod others when it matters the most.

Boxing Day Cup was started in 2016 and is hosting its 8th annual golf day this year and each committee member is given the opportunity to select a charity that could benefit from the proceeds raised on the day. This year, Boxing Day Cup decided to support Soil for Life, a charity making a huge dissimilarity in the lives of people in their communities.

On December 26th, Boxing Day Cup will acquire raffles, auctions, and other opportunities for the golfers to donate and assist in raising funds for Women of the Soil. The proceeds will be handed over to them in the first week of January 2024.

The money collected will be used to fund and assist women in their continued education, support, and development in gardening. It will also be used to succor sustain their soup kitchens open and thriving in communities that desperately need assistance.

Thanks to the generous donation from Bev Co, each golfer will receive a goodie bag and a Jive cooldrink. Local businesses can secure involved as an opportunity to market their products or services by including business cards or other items in the goodie bag.

Another instance of incredible connection was Jive’s sponsorship of Ek en Jy’s Street Cricket sponsorship in Koringberg, held on December 6. It’s another initiative that brings together a community for a day of youth sports, fun, and community storytelling and sharing.

Check out Jive’s website at https://jive.co.za/home-4/ and visit https://www.womanzonect.com/ to find out how you can support the Women of the Soil initiative. Let’s Jive together and celebrate the spirit of togetherness with Jive’s “We Mos Every Family” campaign”.

Reforming the Rockefellers: Speaking of Ivy Lee, in 1914 he achieved another PR milestone when the wealthy Rockefeller family hired him to reform their image. A deadly coal strike had place the family under intense public scrutiny, and Lee organized an in-depth campaign to secure positive goodwill. His tactics include government relations, media relations and even public appearances that sent John D. Rockefeller to meet with the miners personally. The campaign pushed PR onto a much larger platform than ever before and helped define the industry’s relationship with corporations. (Source: Journal of Public Relations Research)
