Jobs bloodbath will worsen under race quotas

27 June 2023 by Guest

Dear Editor

The Quarterly Employment Statistics (QES) released by Statistics South Africa today provide damning proof that South Africa is in the midst of a jobs bloodbath at the hands of failed ANC policy and rampant corruption.

The report has indicated a tragic loss of 97 000 jobs between March 2022 and March 2023, which equates to more than 8000 jobs per month or 260 jobs each day.

This is an indictment on the ANC and a clear sign of a failing state and an uncaring government.

ANC policy has created both the world’s highest youth unemployment rate, as well as one of the worst performing public education systems.

Between a stagnating and receding economy, and a growing population that is ill-equipped for the working world, the ANC is solely responsible for South Africa’s jobs bloodbath and the state of despair millions of South Africans find themselves in.

To add insult to injury, the ANC’s introduction of race quotas in the South African labour market will hammer the final nail in the coffin for the South African economy, further entrenching poverty and misery into the lives of the South African people.

Under the ANC’s race quotas, 600 000 currently employed South Africans stand to lose their jobs based on nothing more than the colour of their skin.

Until these draconian race quotas are removed, South Africa can expect more catastrophic employment statistics in quarters to come.

It is truly baffling that in a country where jobs numbers are already disastrous, the ANC would seek to introduce race quotas to make finding a job even more difficult for millions of citizens.

South Africans will have a real opportunity to change their fortunes and elect a new government in the Moonshot Pact which is already hard at work to unseat the ANC nationally, and introduce a new government that will do away with arbitrary race-based legislation to open up and grow a prosperous and equal opportunity economy.

It is crucial that all South Africans check their registration status at check.da.org.za to ensure that they can cast a vote for real change in 2024.

The QES is proof that South Africa is edging closer to a failed state and the collapse of our society.

If South Africans want a job, they must vote for a government that cares about the health and well-being of our economy and the importance of a labour market free from any identity-based criteria.

Only the DA can lead this change. Only a non-racial future will ensure South Africa’s success.

Regards

John Steenhuisen MP
Leader of the Democratic Alliance
