11 October 2023 by Guest

Ford South Africa is approaching its 100th anniversary in November this year – a remarkable achievement complemented by a long list of major milestones, records, and awards.

To celebrate the Centenary Ford we have several exciting events and activities planned.

The video below is the first #OurFordStory – which highlights Ford’s century-long journey in South Africa. This remarkable journey began with their first manufacturing facility in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha) in the 1920s, pioneering the local motor industry. Over the years, Ford have introduced a series of iconic vehicles that shaped the country’s vibrant automotive culture.

Ford says that their firm commitment to the country and its people is underscored by ongoing investments in manufacturing operations. This dedication has solidified Ford’s prominent position within Ford’s global manufacturing network, making Ford SA one of South Africa’s top vehicle exporters, and a significant contributor to employment and job creation in the region.

Throughout this exceptional journey, dedicated employees have been instrumental in their success. Ford invites South Africans to join in as they celebrate theirr rich history and proud legacy, and look ahead to many more decades of innovation, and giving back to the people of South Africa.
